Theme Creation Service

Following on from the appearance of Patrick La Roque’s Neutral Themes, Florian Keller is offering a free service to anyone interested in having some themes altered.
The bespoke themes are based on the existing Bento 2 themes so you choose the Bento theme and request a font name and sizes and whether you want the media field frame removed. You can also request a folder name for the theme chooser.
Essentially Florian will be duplicating the original theme, rename it, change the font data and the frame graphics, test it and wrap it all in its own theme pack.
Initially Florian would prefer for people to contact him via me so if you would like to take advantage of this kind offer please contact me and I will pass your request on to Florian.

The themes are changing…
Just a word about fonts: the Fontbook application, included with every Mac, is the one to use when you want to play with fonts. It manages all the fonts installed on your system. You can preview all fonts in all sizes, even type in custom text.
There you can find out which fonts and which sizes you would like to have in your Bento themes. Fonts can look very different in the same size: some fonts need to have much bigger sizes than others to be effective. That’s why the default fonts in Bento themes are inconsistent in sizes as well.
But the worst font “feature” of the themes is that the 5 sizes sometimes have a strange range. The difference in size between “medium” and “small” is too big at times for example. Now we can change all that!

um Klarheit zu schaffen: was sie suchen, sind “Themes,” nicht “Templates.” Themes bestimmen hauptsächlich die Lesbarkeit, weil sie Schriftart mit Hintergrundfarbe kombinieren. Templates bestimmen die Anordnung der Felder und anderer Elemente auf einem Formular.

Florian is it possible to make the size of text in choice boxes larger? This would be more suitable for a form that I print Thanks for your themes – they are great

you mean the Choice fields? No, that size can’t be changed by Bento. As far as I know this is a systemwide element, you would have to figure out how to manipulate the Mac OS. Those boxes look the same as they look on websites (in browsers).
