Yiannis,
I hope you have a back-up of your database file. Then you can try the same thing with the back-up file if everything else fails.
Have you tried it a few times? Does Bento stop working every time when you try to delete the library after you re-start it?
Sometimes it takes a while to delete a library. Make sure you wait a minute to give Bento enough time.

I deleted many libraries in the past few days with Bento 3 and never had any problems. So it could be a corrupt database file in your case.

Hi
(I am not sure if I have the same problem) but I need a little help. I want to to delete a library from my Bento. When I delete it bento 3 stops working. I have to do a force quit and restart the bento.
Do you have any suggestion?

Vince, thanks for the great tip. That's why I'm glad for any helpful comment I get.

The problem is that the user's guide doesn't tell you that it works that way. I expected Bento to add and delete data on the fly, that way if the computer crashes, everything is saved. So I still think this doesn't work correctly. And it didn't work the way I handled it, that's why I posted my report:
(Since I thought Bento would work on the fly because the data disappeared from the screen -) I renamed the database file after the deletion and reverted to the last back-up (I did not quit Bento). THIS way the reduced database file DID NOT shrink.
I tested it one way and you tested it another way. I'm glad you found the right way which helps all users. Your comment is very much appreciated.

When I delete a library, close and reopen Bento 3 my database size shrinks.

I just got rid of one of my libraries that was well over 500 records and it took my database size from 4.1MB to 1.8MB.
