I’m glad I didn’t upgrade to Mac OS 10.7 (aka Lion) yet.

TS Gal, the main tech person on the Bento forum, confirmed that we have an unsolved problem. Here’s a direct quote (response to user report):
I am able to replicate the problem (=frequent crashes) under Bento 4.0.4 and Lion, as it works properly under Bento 4.0.4 and Snow Leopard. During the time the beach ball was spinning, I ran Activity Monitor and captured a sample. I sent this file along with your data file to our Development and Testing departments for review…” So now we wait.

Simple recommendation:
If you haven’t adopted Lion yet, hold off until Bento 4.0.5 is released.

P.S.: BTW, I had failed to report that Bento 4.0.4 under Snow Leopard seems to be more stable than 4.0.3 – I don’t experience any more crashes.

Or alternatively if you have, create a new partition for Snow Leopard and run Bento from there?

    Michael:
thanks for the tip. So I guess, you’d have to re-install Snow Leopard on the new partition.

Still using Bento 3; any known issues w/ Lion? thanks.

    LC,
I can only guess that it might be a big problem… but I really don’t know. Please go to the Bento Forum and ask there: the moderators have a testing facility with all versions of Bento.

Anyone having problems with records not sticking? I have to edit a field for this particular record. When I enter it and exit Bento, it disappears.

Greg, a similar bug was present for a while in an older version of Bento and was since fixed. But Lion seems to bring some things back…
Again, we can just hope for an update rather sooner than later.

Bento still does not work correctly with OSX.
It has destroyed my primary database and won’t update from the backup. Absolute garbage.

    Using OSX 10.7.2 & 4.06
